Bobcat vs. Racoon. Bobcat does not win.
What a video taken in the backyard of a person in Florida. I would never have guessed a racoon would put the chase on a bobcat. Crazy!

Cool video, that cat is made of springs! I wouldn't put money on Rocket for every fight though.

There have been Racoons in Alberta since the 50's . Somehow, they found there way to the Simonette River and have been there ever since. I actually saw the pelts in the 60's when the Trappers brought them in to get their fur tagged.
I also know of a Camel shot south of Grand Prairie back in the '40's. Strange Province we live in.

Cousins had a pet coon near Minburn in the late 60's so they've been around a while. Saw one in sask a few years back between Prince Albert and Glaslyn too.
Just good hiders I guess. Brush piles are good places to see them during burn season apparently.

A few years ago in south Sask a bit west of Estevan I had to hit the brakes as a large group of raccoons were in the middle of the road, I crested a hill at night and there was somewhere around 7 of them gathered, perhaps eating other road kill.

Gives me new respect for my former dog. She killed 5 or 6 of them. One of them was about 40 pounds. There was little fight in that one. Looks like she jumped on it's back, and pancaked the coon's skull with her mouth.

Just saw a bobcat bringing an eastern gray squirrel to her kittens. Kittens about 80% size of mom
Lots fewer rabbits on our street now also.
I wonder if they take house cats and dogs. What size dog is in jeopardy?
I like them tons better than coyotes. Last time they were here they stood their ground way too much when approached.

It looks to me like the bobcat caught the raccoon with a few good shots. The bobcat is lightening fast. Props for the raccoon not backing down but its looks to me like the cat chooses to run away because it could.
I think if they were in an enclosed area/pen...the bobcat would make quick work of the raccoon.

Back in Ontario I used to hunt raccoons at night with my bluetick. One night he trees, l tie him off then go back to tree and shine the light. I see eyes shining and shoot between them then wait for the should be dead but not always coon to hit the ground. Then send in the hound. Well this one was in the wasnt dead catagoty, what a fight. Ripped ear, torn nose, punctured lip. My dog finnaly got a good hold to shake and finish him off. 39lbs and almost three feet nose to tail. The dog weighed in at 72 lbs. I have a picture of that night. One pic has him with his mouth around the coon and another behind the dead critter. We went on to tree 3 more that night. I’ll dig them up, it’s somewhere. It is quite a site. Oh btw there was one squished on the road to Sibbald flats by the gravel pit earlier in the year.

I’d give the win to the bobcat by decision haha. That raccoon got smacked around pretty good, the cat just decided whatever was there wasn’t worth it. Probably some baby raccoons around.
Yeah there’s raccoons everywhere in Alberta, just not very concentrated. Yet.

A real fight would be violent and nasty, I had a pet raccoon when I was a kid growing up, when they are in a real fight it isn't a couple bluff charges and paw swats like in the video posted. They go right at it tooth, claws, fur and blood flying. In a real fight between a bobcat and racoon on dry land a cat would win most of the time, he has claws that can rip and tear far worse than a raccoons claws and the cat has bigger teeth and stronger jaws. On the other hand if the coon gets the cat in deep enough water the cat is in trouble.
