Stock market is great, as long as you are cool with losing money too.

I know nothing about stocks and stuff, but I wish I had cornered the market on salt in the Vancouver area this month.

Trying to get rich in the stock market quickly is not investing it is gambling, and you have about the same odds of winning. How you get rich in the market is NOT by picking the best one year stock performance, it is by picking the best 30 year stock performances.

Buy high quality, well managed, steady growth stocks that pay a consistent and growing dividend. Buy when they are down, hold for the long term and add to the positions when the stocks take a drop. Watch for large changes in the market that may cause the stock to enter a long down trend that isn't recoverable (think Kodak, great stock for 30 years but they didn't adapt to the changing world).

Here are a selection of mostly dividend paying stocks with long histories of good performance. Last one is a sell as Thompson Reuters has performed well the last 5 years but is not adapting quickly enough to changing markets.

Well i bet there are a lot of guys on here that have played long enough to know a thing or 2.
All I know is a little about Uranium. Basically took 30K and made it into 184k at it's highest in less than 10 years. Ya its a lot of luck but I'll take that anyday especially in a TFSA lol
A few buy outs and it goes up real fast.
T.HAT was a good buyout for me and Fission Uranium has been real good as well with some good swings. Nexgen Energy and Fission will be bought out at some point and will be worth it when the time comes........

Alc only goes on sale every seven years or so and once it bottoms out it climbs steadily for about 5-6 years.

Atco is another good one, when it is on sale buy it up.

High arctic energy services is a really cheap oil services stock.... makes nothing but money and no debt while paying a 4% dividend
