Barrel will be turned down and cut to 22", I'll add Talley LW extra-lows and Leupold 6X36. The debate is whether the metal should be black coated.

Why not,most people pay David Millers prices,so that they can own something unique.A barreled action that matches that recoil pad,would certainly make the rifle look unique.

Given the target weight of 7lbs-7lbs 2ozs I may just cut the barrel to 22" and flute.

im with you, shes an ugly woman. im sure it gets the job done better than many , but for that kind of money , ? no thanks some people will buy anything for the fact that it costs 4 or 5x more than something that does the same job and actually looks decent and not like a 1st year machinists shop project.

David Miller and Curt Crum may be a lot of things, but inept at their trade is not one of them. I'll never own one, but I'm not naive enough to think that they are probably not making much more an hour than Elkhunter11 is being an electrician. Does that mean that he is somhow feeding someones snob appeal to have the best electrician on site? I doubt it.

I can think of many more people that get paid far more considering what they are worth than these two guys do.

I'd encourage anyone who has interest in the trade to pick up Tom Turpins book "Artistry in Wood and Metal, the David Miller Co." It's a fantastic look into what goes into these rifles.

For them to be making similar money per hour to myself,they would have to be working 40 hours per week for over three months straight to built one rifle.Do you really believe that they put in 500 hours of labor into each rifle?

How much do you think it costs in materials,power ,tooling,building maintenance,insurance etc,to make one rifle?Companies like Carolina Precision,Jarrett rifles and the like sell their rifles for around $5000 to $7000,and they are making a profit.That still leaves an extra $25,000,to $27,000.

I agree, there is nothing in the rifle pictured that remotely justifies $32,000 price tag. I dont see any fancy XXXX walnut, no fancy checkering, no engraving, no skeleton buttplate and grip cap, no custom express sights, all I see is a stainless synthetic, trued, rebarrelled with flutes and muzzle breaked, custom magazine and bottom metal, probably pillar and glass bedded, aluminium or stainless pistol grip cap and a custom fibre stock with a giant pencil eraser on it.
