Default Any retriever clubs around Grande Prairie?

I've got a 9 mo lab that I would like to see about training him for birds. I know everyone thinks that their dogs are special but this one is different. He seems to have the drive and has taken an interest in birds. I got a bunch of books about the topic but would rather meet with people that are into this.

I'm in the same boat you are, have done some looking around for a club but haven't found anything yet, my lab just turned a year old and he's my first dog so I'm looking for some experience to help me with what direction to go. There's a lot of very knowledgeable guys on this forum though that are more than willing to help out. If you do manage to find something please let me know, I'm always interested to train.

You two should team up and head south for Rob's seminar coming up!

yeah the more the merrier. there was actually another Grande Prairie fellow looking to come down but seeking accomadations. can't see a three way split of Strathmore hotel being much (but Cat would know exactly). Strathmore is 12 minutes away.
check out the community dog training for an agenda for Saturday later today if I get more feedback on what is required from some handlers.

The Travel lodge is very affordable and dog friendly - dog dishes, towels for dirty paws, and treats are standard with a room for owners and their dogs!
Breakfast is great and included as well.....

You already have two dog owners, a couple more and you could have a good training group to get together a couple times a week,

Wish I lived closer, I could us some gunners.

I know the feeling. I find myself doing stand lone marks for my dog. It would be great to have 3-4 people s you mentioned for doing multiple marks. Need to get my dog ready for some hunt tests this summer!

AS for dog clubs in the northern part of the province, the one furthest north is in Edmonton, that I know of, but other than that............guys on here offering clinics, I would take them up on it.

Redfrog

I'm way south of you, so there's no chance of meeting up at this point and time. Too bad, I would like to do some marks.

training helps but when a dog has it you know.
it might take a couple seasons but the best deal is spending the time with him out there.
Never had conventional training with mine and hands down he's up there no whistles, shocking or anything.
I can read him and he can read me
