Yeah, there is a lot of stuff that ends up in SPAM and JUNK. I usually take a look each day - all the confirmation e-mails for the legislative petitions seem to end up in one or the other all the time.

Hopefully that helps. I got this info from the F&W office, who say it's included in the hunting regs, but I've not found it in there...good luck.
It’s Pybus

Thumbs up Got Results

Sorry I didn't follow up on my results, which I got at only 8 weeks (Jan.18th) from submission of the head. And happy to report they were negative. So I can now comfortably dine on the results of the harvest. I didn't wait to process the buck and all the cuts have been solidly frozen. In fact had a couple steaks off him tonight and they were great.

I hope that there are not too many of you still awaiting results. Good Luck.

Has there ever been a case of CWD transfer from eating infected venison to a human?

There have been no known cases of CWD transmission from cervids to humans.

True.

And it is unknown if there have been unknown cases of humans infected with CWD. Many if not most people that suffer from brain deterioration illnesses never have their brain tissue analyzed pre or post mortem.
Cases of CJD in humans is skyrocketing.... no one knows why yet.

The concern is that we have been here before with BSE.
First there were no known cases, governments promoted that people could not contract BSE...
And they were wrong and thousands of people died from the mistake.

There were no Variant CJD (vCJD) cases in Canada in 2020.

GOC Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease surveillance system (CJDSS) report link:

https://www.canada.ca/en/public-heal...ce-system.html

BSE killed approx 180 people in the UK during the Mad Cow issue.

Dropped a Mule deer head off end of the first week of rifle season and finally got results back last week. Good to go! Time to enjoy those vacuum packed backstraps and tenderloins!

Got an email this week and they had a question on a CWD tag and I emailed the answer back and asked if that meant I would have results soon and they replied back it would probably be a few weeks yet.

WT Buck dropped at Cabelas freezer Edmonton North on Nov.28th. Just received a NEGATIVE email on Feb 28 so its time to make homemade sausage

Still waiting on the doe submitted a week earlier but the late buck was by far a bigger body so I'm happy!

I wrote Alberta Environment and Parks. They responded quickly that in prior years it took until sometime in March to get through everything. They expect this year it will be late March. I still haven't received any results yet. They don't have any way of tracking a specific animal. It would be good to see that change.

I dropped off three for testing in early December. I hadn't heard anything yet so I called Margo at the number listed above and gave her my CWD numbers. She called me back and two out of the three had been tested and were negative, the third still needs to be tested.

Got an email after(that went to my junk email) on the one negative result, still haven't received the second negative result email.

It makes me wonder if the results on the two negative results may have been available for awhile but staff hadn't got a chance to email me yet?
Might be worth calling Margo if you're still waiting for results.

Processing time.....

Default Tracking?

Not sure who that was that said they could not track a specific animal, as receiving the results is completely dependant on them tracking the individual animal submitted? Apparently Margo can!

Well got my results back this morning.
Dropped my head off at cabelas south Edmonton on November 22nd.
Luckily it’s negative because I only have about 10 pounds of burger and a couple packs of steak left.

I dropped off samples from two mule bucks on Dec 3rd at spruce grove F&W freezer.

Got back results today. Both positive.

Such a kick in the crotch. I have primo hunting permission. We are 100% filling tags there on good bucks. We are also 95% CWD positive out of that valley.

Ive been hunting and taking friends there for almost 12 years and I have yet to taste any meat we harvested there. All just wall hangers and burned fuel.
