Im not sure this applies here, but when I put up a commercial site in 1998- I had to hire a webmaster to maintain it , otherwise things got really bad -slow access etc. Apparently the web has Bots that travel around ,constantly checking sites for web status and updates etc. . It wasnt cheap by any means but much cheaper than a poorly functioning site and an empty shopping cart. Needless to say, it appears keeping current with the latest updates is crucial for any website.
