It was in mid-february. Scotty's used to put it on, but they sold the resort this past summer. Not sure if the new owners will continue with it or not. I guess we'll find out. There was some pretty decent prizes and for a $10 entry fee you can't go wrong.

If they decide not to maybe we could get together and get one going ourselves. Anyone interested??

It used to be on the Family Day long weekend. I believe it was always on the Sunday.

Default Pine Lake Derby

We were the previous owners of Scotty's and wish to thank everyone whom supported us in the 17 years at our Derby. We raised over $13,000 for various charities during this time. We have heard that the new owners are going to have a derby and it will be on the Sunday of the family day weekend. We will not enter the derby but will be on the lake stop by for a visit. Earl and Doreen

Thanx for all the good time in the past derbys Its going to be extreamly hard to fill your footsteps. You guys did a great job I was happy to be a part of it. I can only hope the help towards the great charities you helped continues. The derby has become some what of a family tradition for us so we will give it a try this season and see if its worth continuing.

Thanks for the positive feedback. For twenty years we just told people to follow the crowd and/or look for lots of old holes the guys look around a lot and keep moving. If you don't get a bite in ten or fifteen min. MOVE. There are no bad fishing spots , just ones with no fish. Earl

yup we camped at leisure for 8 years, til' captain douche bought the campground (got kicked out 2 years after his rein of terror on young people began (rick)). Spent tonssss of time fishing on that lake, theres fish everywhere just gotta find them on that day, i always had good luck over by the slalom ski course by leisure by the shore on the weed edges, opposite side of the slalom course. theres a few good perch spots right along that edge and good pike in the deeper part near the center of the lake in that spot. And walleye everywhere

The one I was at in the past was fairly laid back. You sign in at 8 am or so then go drill your holes and fish away. You bring your catches back in a bucket for weigh in at scotty's and hope you have a winner. I'm sure theres a bit more to it but that's how i remember it going down.

I would call scotty's directly and ask them about it. Their Number is 403-886-4837. They will fill you in on all the details. Unfortunately I wont be able to make it this year. I'm going to be torn away to BC to fly fish for steelhead. Poor poor me...
