Default one fly, one size?

If you could only fish one fly, in one size, for the rest of your life, what would it be? For me, it would be a size 12 Evel Weevle.

Sz2 3xsilver doctor streamer with a bleeding gill. You could not come close to all seasons all waters including salt with a tiny nymph. And your species count would in the basement. Mat to sept your fly would kill in most small to med rivers, year round open water for all species you would be board stiff near six moths of the year.

Although I hardly use it, if I was restricted to one fly it would be a size 10brown Woolly Bugger, very soft hackle.

Close to mine...I'd do #10, or even #12 Beadhead Bugger, in Olive. Fortunately, this scenario couldn't actually happen...I have a lot more fun with dries -- they just change so much over the course of a year, that they wouldn't be feasible in this wildly fictional situation.

#12 Elk Hair Caddis. If I only had one I want to see it drift.

Default Ehc

I second the elk hair caddis thoughts.... But... Black ant white wing #12 gets the majority of grayling for me so that's my choice

I would have to say a #16 bead head pheasant tail nymph. This fly has caught me the most fish by far.

I think mine would be a size 16 chironomid pattern, I have had loads of success with them tied up with pheasant tail fibers.
