Default Chestermere Underwater Pike Video

My second attempt making underwater footage with my marcum 625 SD camera. A couple of notes:

- Chestermere Lake Feb 18th 2011
- Fished from 9:30 - noon, video was taken about 10-11 am before my laptop battery died (it was -25 out!)
- All video is in order, unedited, unmodified. I only took out the boring parts wtih no fish
- water clarity is brutal, not abnormal for chestermere from all the weeds rotting.
- those floating things are fresh water shrimp. They are everywhere.
- Fished in 6.5 FOW on the south end near the damn.
- Caught 8 in total, 2 on red/white len thompson, 1 on green buckshot, 2 on green double tail, 2 on buzz bomb, 1 on automatic fisherman.
- all kinda the same size except the one of the buzz bomb (pictured) and was actually caught without any bait as I ran out. Just jigging agressively.
- too bad I ran out of laptop battery, missed some real good footage.

Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAJwpf55Z3g

One other thing. Distance between camera and lure was about 3 feet. Tried fishtv and could not see the lure at all. In case people are curious.

Nice! It is pretty cool to be able to watch in colour and lots of action. I would be interested to see how my camera would have fared for image quality. Better start saving my pennies I want one of those cameras.

Excellent video and editing! Kind of gives one a whole new perspective on "Chesterslough". I just might have to invest in a camera - looks like fun. Thanks for posting!

Well before the year ends, I will be trying to a walleye vid from travers or pine, a laker vid from spray, maybe bulls from lower k (if dace and I get out), and rainbows from Beaver opening day. And depending how that beaver trip goes, maybe some brookies from birch too!

I find the camera spooks trout. I had mine about 6 feet away from the hole I was fishing in too!

Possibly. Definitely brookies do but I may do a downward angle on that one. Rainbows and lakers don't seem to mind in my experience.

I got it in December. www.cabelas.ca. $549. I didn't want to wait for the 825s to come to Fishin hole, good thing because the second production run to canada wasn't very good and they had lots of issues with them. No issues with mine and I don't need the extra 2" anyway. (well that's what the wife says )

More videos to come before ice-off, I promise! Also forgot that I am spending a weekend at slave lake, so should have something to show for that!

Have you considered picking up a portable DVR with AV in recording instead of humping the laptop around? Battery would probably last longer too

No idea! Had a look around earlier, and couldn't find any big brand models (there must be some - just not sure what to search for). I guess Archos make one - but their devices are usually really expensive.

I did find some on eBay from no-name brands in China. One that seems to come up again and again is the JXD318. They go for about $70 on eBay. Takes SD memory cards, records video, plays video.

Obviously, do your research - just an idea to maybe save you humping a laptop around!

3 feet is not actually that bad in my limited experience with my Marcum. Finally got my Marcum back from repair and hopefully it lasts this time. Used it at Gull this last weekend I could only get about 6 feet of viewing distance. Although at Spray I managed to see about 30 feet with the Marcum so I guess it's all relative. I still love the quality of the Marcum camera so far.

Nice video, it's amazing how many fish there actually are in Chesterslough. The one thing I have noticed with a cam this year is how many fish actually pass by your hole without even touching the bait/lure, just as shown in your video. One interesting thing I saw at Gull was how you could see whitefish, burbs and pike all swimming around within 6 feet of each other at the same time without getting territorial.

I'm not too stressed with lugging the laptop around right now. It is my work laptop which I don't really care about, it isn't very good. I like the portable camera option too for $100 from B&H as mentioned in the other thread, but I have spent enough monies this year on crap .

Heh - fair enough. Might be worth keeping an eye out on the London Drugs weekly flyer - that kind of stuff comes up on sale there all the time.
