Default Gull Lake Summer Tourny

How many people would be interested in a summer tournament at gull lake?

$100 Entry fee

100 participants

First Prize

2011 12 foot john with 4hp mercury

I am thinking about organizing an event but i need to know if there would be enough interest.

Your input is appreciated.

What kind of tourney? Pike, Walleye, Whitefish, or Perch?

It also may be tough to get a CFE for it now. I may be interested depending on what species and when.

Perch
@
Gull

Maybe follow with another for trout at another location.

And we were talking about going with cash for first, second and third instead of prizes.

1st 3000

2nd 2000

3rd 1000

Draws and BBQS

It might not get off the ground this year but we need to know if there is enough demand in central alberta to support a few tournements.

I would be in for Pike or Walleye, Perch may be a hard sell. ........... and the winner is Jon Smith with a Perch measuring 4 inches / 6 ounce's. Just cant see it drawing much of a crowd. But i do like the idea.

You may want to look into how much the permits are for such events from SRD before you set an entry fee.

I think they also tell you when you can have such an event, what species you can do it for and the time limits that are allowed.

Just wondering have you ever done this before.
Most derbies are a fund raise for a chairty or a fish and game club when money is involved.
Not sure if its that easy. Last person I heard doing this took off with the money at gull a few years back.
Your more than likely a stand up guy.
Don't know who you are ,looks like you just jioned this forum April 2011.
First post you make your looking for money .
Interesting.
So is all the money going back into winnings or is this a money making deal ,like 50/50 .
Would like more info .

So where does the other 4 grand go?

100 boats x 100 bucks is 10k. The prizes listed only total 6k.

These are the questions folks will be asking. These same questions will be asked by SRD. They will also want details of every dollar spent and where it goes.
