Default Bull Trout Robbery on the Sheep

I have been out on the Sheep the last two days. Yesterday I had a nice 12 inch rainbow on a dry and he jumped. Then he started pulling line like crazy. A large bull trout snatched him off the line and then hooked himself on the dropper nymph. After a short battle on a 5 wt he took off down stream and wrapped me around a boulder and broke off. Today I was back in the exact same spot and hooked another 12 inch rainbow that jumped and then started pulling line. This time I got to see the thief. The bull trout stole the rainbow and headed down stream to the same boulder. He was still caught up in the line but broke off as I approached. He looked to be 30 inches plus. I`m pretty sure he has been trained by a fly shop as I lost four good flies!

The sheep is fishing quite well right now on small hopper (stimies, humpies and foamies) dropper combinations. However I only hooked one Rocky in two days.

Tim

I believe the story. The bulls are thick in some streams.

Time for a limited harvest on the big cannibals(25 inch plus) I think.

I had to steer quite a few fish away from huge bulls last year in the sheep. I only had one fatality and that one the hook came out of the rainbow and hooked the bull in the mouth. I fought it for 5 minutes on my 4wt but the bull was having none of it and had complete control over me. Then hook popped out.

I've only fished the sheep a few times since the flood and my numbers and size is down from last year.
