Default Rainbows through the ice

I went out to a local trout pond Friday afternoon despite the weather. Only fished for an hour and had my limit. I lost a couple as well. Worms was working really well this time with small jig heads. I kept my limit because this lake will winter kill, so better taking them now them and feed my family than let them go to waste. There was at least 6" of ice but I was catching fish and it was a blizzard, didn't check exactly.

Just got back from trying two local pot hole lakes near here, and both had 6 inches plus of solid ice for up to the 50 yds I was trying to get to. Was surprised at the amount of nice brookies I got at one lake, and got a few nice little 12 inch rainbows as well, at both lakes. Forgot my camera so can't show pics... but was good fishing.. None were massive though... My new drill auger attachment worked great.. Other than a bit more wind than I would like, was a great day...Love my ice fishing...

I'm curious about this as well. If I have to I'll order one from BPS or wherever, but I'd much rather pick one up locally if I can.

Nice catch! No reason to justify taking them home for the pan.

I was at Chickakoo and then over at Star. I got my attachment on Ebay. I looked at a couple of models before I bought this one. I liked that it is all metal, and has a strong handle. Worked like a dream.

Speaking fof smoker...yes thats what we did. I built one out of an old burning barrel. A great recipe:

Rub in soy sauce
Rub in brown sugar
Generous on salt
Pepper
Lemon Pepper
Bit of garlic powder
Dash of all spice

Marinate overnight. Smoke with a cedar/pine base fire, snuff half out with wet black diamon willow. Smoke and cook at 180-200 until flakes. Tastes like candy.
