Default More Alberta Ice Brookies

well we decide to go for a drive and try some random spots and managed to find these guys!!

All females were released except for the big one, she had already dropped her eggs, so we weren't t concerned about keeping her, all others kept were males. Brook trout are about 60 to 70 percent done spawning around where we were, so the ice time for brook trout is running out fast!!!
Cheers!!

Nice pics duster

as the farther north you go the later the brookies school trying to spawn so the diffrences from red deer to whitecourt would be a week to 10 days and as the farther north you go the later it is i have fished a lake called stoney up by peace river and the brookies are still schooled up in early january........the brookies stage for about two weeks before they try to spawn and they try to spawn for about 2 weeks and then they stay together for another 7-10 days and they migrate around the lake so you have a window about 6 weeks that brookie fishing should be good and usually around here we have until about the end of the first week of december is good with the best time being around the middle of november to the first of dec.......it can change every year this is just a reference is all by xmas time it is usually pretty hard to catch a brookie here
