What’s my .204 Ruger worth?
I am considering selling my Rem 700 SS Heavy Barrel with Boyd Thumbhole Stock. Don’t know round count but rifle in real nice condition. Just curious what it’s worth.

Trades I would interested in:
- Sightron rifle scopes, 4.5x14x42mm or 4x16x42mm
especially! with the HHR reticle. (no duplex pls.)
- older 6x fixed scopes with fine X or target dot.

No scope, I thought it was all factory. Was there ever a model that came out with that Boyd stock on it, or is that an addon. I beleive it is all factory.

About 65% of what you paid new for the rifle.

If the butt pad is a Remington pad it's factory. If it says Boyd's it's aftermarket add on.
It appears to be a factory 700 VLSSTH which are not that common.

The stock on that gun may be a Boyd's after market vented thumbhole varmint model. It likely has two sling mounts on the forearm. Remington made a model with vented fore ends and thumbhole so it could be factory. DH is right about checking the butt plate..
If the stock is pillar or glass bedded properly it will add a small amount of value to the gun. Depending on round count you should be able to get 850-1000 for that model as it appears to be the Quality Stainless 700 with the med heavy fluted SS barrel not the 700 SPS. I would advertise it on CGN as well as here, there has been a lot more buying activity from people outside Alberta the last few years.

35% below retail is pretty comman for "New" in the box original condition....Some will pay more, many will pay less but it is a good bench mark...Unless it is an odd caliber, rare, great wood etc......many factors to consider.
Check it out on the web, lots of auction sites etc....to get at least a fair idea of the value....but remember USD vs CND....so add 35% to US prices. Taxes are a none starter, shipping is about $40 bucks now..
If you just want to flip it? price it low ..if you want top dollar be prepared for a long wait.

If I have a gun that is new in box then I see no reason why I would be willing to sell it for 35% less than retail. As far as used rifles, any I have had for 5 or more years have sold, in VGA or excellent shape, for as much or more than I bought them new for because the price of guns have gone up so fast the last 20 years. There are a number of hard to find, no longer made models that I have sold for as much as triple what I paid for them, latest example was a lh browning micro hunter in 22 hornet. Bought for 600 sold for 1700 in 2 days.
Trying to simplify selling used guns to 65% of what u paid is really far from accurate or useful.

Awesome! That’s exactly what I was gonna sell the butt Pad for.😜👌😁
Thanks everyone this is some great advice. It does have the Remington logo on the butt stock so it is factory. On the fence with making it a custom or selling it, but at least I have an idea now where to start. Might just buy a Tikka lite and keep the Remington for now. Then I can decide after trying both which way to go. Thanks again
Life is good when these are the hardest decision a guy has to make.🤗👌

Last NEW firearms I bought were 35% off because the store was broken into and the store could not sell them for full retail, they were sold as used price...Which was 35% off...I am glad you are able to find firearms for cheap and resale for a 500% mark up...MOST buyers and sellers do not have your....expertise...or are not willing to wait years to get a return on their investment..most buy and sell at huge losses....

50 to 75% of current new price. Before taxes .
Condition will add or detract price.
Uncommon chamberings and or discontinued models sometimes develop cult followings which drive value upward. Ie: boat paddle stainless Rugers, Winchester 88 in 284.
Our devalued dollar has driven new prices upward, however our slumping economy has driven used prices downward.
Value of Blued Walnut rifles in vanilla cartridges has fallen compared to stainless synthetic.
Ultimately the market will determine the value.
