7850lbs gwr vs 7000lbs gwr for regular f150.

Includes stiffer spring rate, thicker frame (more bracing), 9.75" rear end (vs 8.8" for regular f150), heavier tires and rims, etc.

Thinking about ordering one with the roof (highest trim you can get with this setup is 500a, which kinda blows).

Would order with 3.5 e.b. and max tow. Only 5 in western Canada in my color options (grey or white) and none have the sunroof.

Just trying to get away from the 1 tons. Thanks
Looks like you already know a lot about this .
I owned a 2010 Max tow lariat and I know you inquired about 2015 and up.
My one thing to add is Ford is famous for having a million GVWR and Axle ratings. They really only match the axle rating to the tires that come stock from factory. My axle on that truck was 4050. Willing to bet they have no more than 2 axles.
At the time I bought my truck, there were only 200 of these sold in Canada so I can see why it is hard to get your hands on the Max Payload package.

As others have stated, payload is the only key as all these engines will PULL the weight listed but not CARRY it.
I had a 7700 GVWR back then and my 7000 dry fifthwheel put me over with the kids wife toys etc. and the only higher rated truck then had the 8200 axle.
I was under towing rating ( this is a joke rating) by 3000 pounds but over payload and axle at times by 100 pounds. Added springs but knew I needed one of the big boys and now on my second 350.
Good luck in your search.

Default F150 Max Payload Package

I don't know if you got the truck, I am looking at the date but the answers are nowhere near what you were asking or simply dicky. I had a 2014 F-150 with the max payload package and the 5.0 V8. The ride was not different than a regular F-150, maybe just a bit firmer. It had 7 lug wheels (thicker axles I assume). I towed a 6500 lbs TT and a quad in the bed. I was still a bit over in the rear and at the limit for GVWR but I wouldn't go with a heavy duty. Just too rough and too big. Not to mention fuel economy and maintenance. I can say the max payload package makes quite a difference and it bridges a gap just so you don't really need a bigger truck. Power was adequate and I climb the BC Rockies often. Stability in the winds was great. I recommend this package.

I had this exact truck and let me tell you, boy could it tow, and at the same time store some weight in the box, no white knuckling what so ever, only owned mine for 3 years so maybe the folks who’ve owned one beyond warranty could continue chiming in, I would love to hear what they have to say!

I have a 2014 F 150 with the heavy duty pkg you are talking about. Its got the 3.5 EB - 7 bolt hubs - HD trailer pkg etc. I put air bags on it and have a 8' camper on it but it also has and 8' box. I haul my boat behind it and its 3500 pounds. It pulls everything fine and gets great mileage even with the 6 speed tranny. The 10 speed would just make it better. Good truck and I would buy another one in a heart beat.

Forget about an F150 or ANY half-tonne for that matter IF you want to tow and haul large loads often

Get a 3/4 tonne.
