Default How have the ssr forks been?

Hey all. I am just looking for a report on the how the SSR has been fishing down at the Forks lately. I will be heading down there this weekend with some friends. I have been there a lot this year and want to hit it again before it gets too cold. What has been biting? How are water levels? If you dont want to post publicly, feel free to PM me. THANKS!!

That's good advice. Check your reg's.

It is only closed from Mar16-May7.

So, how have they been?

I've been thinking about heading down myself.

Notice how I said "Fairly sure". I don't live around the area, but assumed it would close with most of the other river systems. My mistake.

from Bassano Dam downstream to South Saskatchewan River

should be lots of walleye in the area, maybe the odd sturgeon, but I am not sure about them.

No worries man. There's just a lot of people who make a habit of taking every opportunity to jump on someone about the reg's.

Jacenbeers, when are you heading out?

I've been hoping to make it down there and finally have some sturgeon gear.

Southern guys, what are you getting them on?

To be quite honest had I known that I wouldn't have been wasting my time fishing these in-town lakes the last couple days.. I woulda drove out there and fished for walleye! I did however catch a fairly big burbot at nic in town haha which is definately a first for me.

You wouldn't have caught anything at the forks with your cave man ways anyways.

Erik is all for helping people out and just did realise that the regs apply the same as any walleye lake in southern Alberta.

I have heard that the forks have been pretty busy lately. I haven't really heard much about the actual fishing.

Once I trade my walleye rig in for a jon style jet boat I will be fishing the river a ton and can give you a report.
