Default Barrel bluing

I need some expert advice on how to fix this barrel and repair the bluing that has been removed by what looks like a plastic bag. I have never tried to re blue a barrel before so I am going to need the easiest method possible lol. It is on a pre 64 model 70 featherweight

If doing yourself to option is to cold blue the area. First you will need to polish the rusted area. Use emery cloth , or carborundum strips. One can start by draw filing the pits out and then start with 100 grit and work up to around 240 grit . Then use cold blue as directed. Fyi it will not match the old bluing

You will be suprized how much work it actually is

That looks like the old blue will have to be removed around the messy spots and new blue re applied. Unless you get super lucky with your cold blue it's going to likey look uneven no matter how good of a job you do. My personal opinion is to call Oscar at ribstone gunsmithing and get him to do it. He's pretty quick and does a heck of a job.
