I know how the OP feels.
I put up a thread about a crooked boat dealer in regards to service, and the thread was removed because he was a sponsor

Default bset reviews are the pretend ones

Saw one of those documentaries:Market Place showed how they pitched a fake company to a marketer when they went undercover, instantly 1oo's of great reviews for a product that doesn't exist.

Yes there are those phony ones. I try to look for ones that give good details of the product. At least if they have really used or tested it they should putbup what it is all about. Most of the fake ones never have any details so I always ignore those as there is a greater chance its just someone pounding a keyboard that has never seen or used it.

Google reviews aren’t the greatest either.

My buddy used his business to sponsor his bbq team at porkapalooza last year. A bunch of unruly vegans came around the grounds and took pictures of team banners with company sponsorship then left a bunch of 1 star reviews on google for all the sponsors. That’s really tough on a small business when people google your name and you have a crap google rating. He had to fight with google for a month to remove the bogus reviews, but that also raises the question of who else can haggle with google to get reviews removed.

I find searching product name + forum will give good info a lot of times. Amazon and similar reviews are often sketchy at best.
