Default Messed up my first coyote taking attempt

Hey guys,

This seems like the appropriate forum to ask this on;

I shot my first coyote back in November. Always wanted to tan for a wall hanger. Made a real mess of skinning it, so I didn't wanna pay the money to have it professionally tanned.

I salted it, fleshed it real good, pickled it with alum, then I used the orange bottle stuff. It's been drying for months now and it is still supple and feels kinda greasy to touch. The fur side looks good, I gave it a good brushing and it's holding, I just need the skin side to toughen upa bit.

Can I start over? Wash it, pickle it and tan it again?

You guys are probably sick of giving noobs advice about this, bit any info is greatly appreciated

Max

You can do it over yes, however my advice like above is to shoot another one or ten and use trubond products instead. That orange bottle is garbage compared to it. Trubond produces a nice soft white tan very easily with great instructions. Marty sells it on here. Canadian coyote company buy the 1000b kit I think it is.
