Amazon Key will let couriers unlock your front door to deliver parcels
Not in my lifetime they will at my house.
Couriers can tap 'unlock' in mobile app to get into homes with Amazon Key smart lock installed
The world's largest online retailer on Wednesday announced*Amazon Key, a lock and camera system that users control remotely*to let delivery associates slip goods into their houses.*Customers can create temporary passcodes for friends and other*services professionals to enter as well.

Something new for the criminals to hack. Might have a look at it, although I'm pretty sure I would never want one. Maybe I should have a peek before I comment. Oops, to late........

So, you're saying a criminal that's smart enough to hack a sophisticated electronic system, but to dumb to pick your Weiser?

The technology allows for UPS drivers to also damage items already inside your home in addition to the item being shipped, so it's an advancement! Now instead of merely throwing the package into your hedge they can hurtle it at your china cabinet full of porcelain Liberace figurines!

Got that right.
If they want in they will get in, and with out much effort either.

I don't think a sane person would give them full access to there house. I'm guessing it's more designed to allow them into entry way with another locked door to go further into your house. So the parcel is inside but not "inside".
Plus I'm sure if anything happened amazon or whoever would be liable for all the damages
Dosent sound much different from any vehicle that uses a fob

As a former courier, I can say that most couriers will want nothing to do with this. Like people that take their car to a mechanic for an alignment and then come back the next day and say "ever since you did the alignment, my power windows don't work" (true story).
Now couriers will get blamed for everything a home owner misplaces or medication his teenage son stole.
I used to refuse to even leave packages in peoples back yards unless they were regular clients.
As a home owner, no friggin way I'm letting people in my house when I'm not home. I barely trust my wife in the house when I'm not there!
Just seems like a bad idea all around.
Like someone said above. If you receive a lot of packages, build a drop box.
I had one at the old house screwed down to the porch. It had a lid with a hasp on it that I left an open padlock on. I had a laminated note on it for the courier to leave the package in the box and close the lock afterwards.
It was mounted out of sight from the road behind a pillar.

I was trying to think of something gaudy and ol twinkle toes seemed to be the epitome of it so I ran with the concept.
One time I had to do a furnace repair for the Calgary public trustee, the home was vacant and had been flooded (2005?) as it backed onto the Elbow river. The work was through the trustee as the homeowner had passed away with no heirs and the interior decor made it pretty obvious as to why..... Golden swan head tub spout, more crystal chandeliers than you could shake a stick at; the place was like Liberace’s Calgary crash pad, though modest in size. Strange thing about that is that I had to replace any furnace components that had been flooded and the place was only a knock-down for the lot anyways... I guess it’s just a requirement for the legal sale that the furnace be operational.
Anyways, back to making fun of letting couriers into your home! I do,like that drop box concept, much like a key drop at a mechanics/ dealership.
