Ruger 10/22 trigger upgrades
Anybody here have the Kidd upgrade trigger kit (not the complete drop-in unit) in their 10/22? Or the Volquartsen trigger upgrade kit?
Looking to improve the trigger without dropping a ton of scratch on this rig.

I didn't buy a full kit but bought a few volquartsen parts over time and am quite happy with them. I also did some carefull polishing of the rest of the factory parts to get rid of that gritty feeling.

I dont have a fancy aftermarket trigger for my 10/22...but i did buy the Ruger BX Trigger assembly. It is definitely a noticeable change from the factory trigger that comes with it. the gun is primarily just used for plinking and shooting gophers...so nothing overly fancy. But it works and was very easy to swap.

Some of the newer style hammers have the bushings built in ,if you decide to go with just a hammer change, you may need separate bushings also.
Drop the trigger group out ,easy to see the difference without taking apart.
The Ruger BX drop in is pretty good for the money, easy swap out and you can re- install factory trigger group if you sell the rifle.
Sell the BX trigger ,your loss will be less than the price of the Hammer upgrade.

I more than likely won't ever sell this rifle so resale isn't a concern. Thinking to go with the Kidd trigger kit and maybe a few other internals.

I did a trigger job myself with jewelers rouge and a fine triangle file. The trigger pull was reduced considerably. I bought my wife the BX trigger package and she loves hers.

Have had a trigger done by gunsmith, good. Better than the ruger drop in.
Installed the Kidd trigger job kit, very good. Worth the money.
Have a Kidd 2 stage, amazing trigger, only thing that bit compares to it is TRG trigger.
I like 2 stage triggers so I'm biased towards that. The Kidd kit is worth the money and easy to install. Get the bolt hold open kit as well. Nice at range to have it open.

I did a full rebuild from the factory parts with volquartsen parts one piece at a time from brownells. Made it a lot crisper and smoother. I think innthe end it would have been cheaper with shipping to just buck up and buy a drop in.

My 10/22 shot 2" groups at 50yds.
Put in Volquartsen hammer and sear to improve the trigger pull and hopefully the accuracy.
Put in Volquartsen extractor, extended mag release and bolt release to improve the function.
Trigger went from brutal to good. Accuracy is now better but not great. The improvement in accuracy was about what I was hoping for. I think that a barrel replacement would turn it into a shooter.
The extractor, mag release an bolt release were excellent upgrades. They made a major improvement to the function of the gun.
