Default How much trout worm?

A discussion came up, so I thought id ask on here.
When using trout(earth) worms for pothole trout, do you use a whole worm each time, or just a piece.
Not a big deal, but up here they rip you 5-6 bucks for a dozen worms, nice to make em last.
What's your thoughts??
Ken

When fishing stocked trout I typically use about a 1" chunk on a 1/32 oz or even down to a 1/64 oz jig.

For trout I always use the jumbo dew worms. Half a worm is enough to thread a #8 hook so that the worm covers the knot to hook, and still have some hanging behind the point of hook and lies flat in the water.
I agree about the cost of worms, and I catch my own. Still have 2 large containers of fat healthy worms left in my "worm farm" (small fridge) that I collected 9 months ago in May.

I have always had good luck using a worm threaded and at times using worm blower.

one third or half a jumbo is lots, and just let it drift below a slip bobber.

They sell what they call a trout worm some places had way better luck with them then crawlers. They are about half the size of of a night crawler and I use a whole one.

We'll that comes down to fishinfactuals, big worm = a big fish but if it is the only worm you got piece it up and catch many smaller ones...

Have rod, will travel...tightlines
