Default What kind of gun is this?

Knowing absolutely nothing about guns, I was just curious about this one. Is it rare? valuble? POS?

It's a single action Ruger,decent quality,and generally not rare.

Ruger Blackhawk, .38 Sp. .357 Magnum. Don't know if they make them anymore. Used to have one at one time and wish I still did. Good solid coil spring single action and it has adjustable sights, another plus. Think you could get a 9 mm cylinder for them, as well .

You might have something worth a bit as a collector, but don't expect it to be worth the Royal Canadian Mint! If you look carefully, under the cylinder the words " 30 carbine cal" are written. I don't know much about the numbers produced, but it's bound to be in the not so numerous dept. It also says, " new model blackhawk", so it's value would not be as much as the older models. I think that the older models were called "flat tops". Someone who visits the forum may know more than me.

My dad has an almost identical gun to that except his is a 41 Rem Mag. He used it for protection guiding up in the Mackenzie Mountains in the 70's

Not a collector's piece but still a great, solid handgun.
Ruger still lists them in .30 Carbine.
