Exclamation 20 0r 12g?

Whats better an 20 or a 12g. For small bird and gopher hunting? I know shotgun's shouldn't be used for killing gophers but it would still be fun to try. I want to get a pump shot gun but i don't know what to get a 20 or a 12.

Default 20 or 12

Depends on what you like.

I've owned both over the years, side/side, single barrel, and pumps.

Only use a 20 now, Rem 870 combo came with a rifled slug barrel for big game.

My reasons:

Not pricey.

Less recoil.

Will kill anything a 12ga will.

Have to put up with the "how's the lady's gun" comments, but I'm not that insecure, and I've been around long enough to laugh off that kind of ribbing.

Good slugs are a little hard to come by, but I'm picky.

Good luck.
