I tip my hat to you sir! Again, and again....save some of that luck for Cold lake next weekend!! Makes me sick to think I fish with you quite a bit, invested way to much money, and I have still never caught a sturgeon....oh well you da man!

So whats with the double tail on that first smaller sturgeon?

Never even noticed that until you pointed it out...looks like a little chunk might be missing off the bottom part of it?

You the man Jay I've fished that river for over 20 years and have only ever caught one sturgeon.

I believe the "double tail" is the pocket of Jay's hoodie????

BTW, looks like you had a pretty good day, Jay; I'll bet that big sturgeon was a bit o' fun! Nice!

I will say that I really enjoyed tossing hardware last year on the NSR and had some pretty good results, and I do miss that, however if the fishing keeps up like this I can't really complain!

Got out again with ghostguy6 and he got in to his first sturgeon as well. I'm guessing there should be a thread and pics coming soon!

Nice work buddy! Bushnell had me out today and I broke my river skunk....and caught my first ever Goldeyes!

I think the clip out of the tail is from DNA sampling the fish? (one of the tag program guys would be able to confirm)

Was this one bigger than your other one?

LC

Wicked, I'm glad you got over the river skunk! How did that shiny new reel work out for ya? If the water was cleaner you'd have a blast with the goldeyes on either light spinning gear or the fly rod...unfortunately for the moment the water is most conducive to bait fishing.

I really can't say if it was bigger or not. It was 2" shorter, but when I looked at the pics side by side, this one looks girthier (if that's a word?) but when I got this one I didn't have a proper tape to measure girth, so I honestly can't say for sure.
