Default Kenney, the Grinch who stole Christmas

Been a lot of uncertainty for the last little while, but today the ax fell. Bunch of non union low level management people at Alberta Agriculture, in Red Deer, including my son, were laid off. He had a producer meeting scheduled for this afternoon. Sorry, I won't be coming. if you're expecting a grant, it won't be . Word is the unions will getting their enema in March.

Same debt.
Less services and more unemployed, but at least we don’t have to pay a carbon tax.....O wait.

Sorry to hear about your son getting laid off right before Christmas. Never fun. Surprised to hear that the GoA is letting go of FTEs already... Figured they'd be clearing out all temps/contract/wage staff way before an actual permanent FTE, even if low lvl non-union staff.

I have a few friends who were non-union Systems Analysts at rhe GoA from when I worked there. Hopefully they don't get any cuts.

All the best!

Promised to do a review of Alberta health Services and get rid of the ridiculous top heavy and not cut services

No senior AHS management positions cut and thousands of front line staff cut

No closer to a pipeline

Drug half of his caucus to Ottawa on our bill with no real benefit being seen

No closer to a pipeline and exodus of business to US still occurring

So much for eliminating carbon tax. we actually are in a worse position than we were with NDP carbon tax

I voted for Kenny and was not a NDP supporter but from a realistic point of view we are in exactly the same position or worse

Just think that if NDP had this record after 8 months we would be very critical yet there seems to be some rose colored glasses. Hope the next year shows some wins for Alberta

Kenny is a career politician, I for one am tired of them , he has never held a job in the private sector, he dropped out of university after 2 years, never completed the course, then worked as a assistant for the slimy Liberal Ralph Goodale in the Saskatchewan Liberal Party, then over to the Reform Party, then over to Stephen Harper and the Conservatives, then gets out of Federal politics, parachutes back into Alberta provincial politics, throws out Brian Jean , as far as the upper management in AHS , these guys probably contributed funding to Kenny’s election campaign , so he saves there fat cat positions, they have the huge wages to contribute to political fund raising, , dirty ugly politics at its finest ,

https://edmontonjournal.com/news/loc...s-nurses-union

The pipe was going on the ground already.

The moves south are not Kenny’s fault nor were they the previous governments.

Time will tell about the trip and there does need to be a federal lobby.

That’s 15 more seconds then I’ll listen to on that station. Unless it’s sports talk I move the dial.

its not kenney's fault that companies are shuttingdown/moving but when it happened on the ndp's watch there were a lot of people wanting to hold them accountable for it .

Think he's talking about the Calgary Board of Education. Amazing what the threat of an audit can do.

The long delayed NDP royalty reviews chased away some investment, and Notley being anti pipeline drove more investment South.

I know that. I just love how he decides that teachers somehow are hoarding money and have now found it magically.

It has been a perennial problem that school Boards hold back as much as 19-20% of their operational budget..... for biz at reasons.
At one point I think there was well over 100 million of Ed dollars in the accounts of Boards just sitting there doing nothing.

That’s not the mandate of Boards.

He ran on a platform of getting Alberta out of debt.
How did you think he was going to do it...wave his magic wand?
I was here for the early Klein years...it hurt like hell but Alberta ended up being in the best shape it had been in 20 years.

Is raiding the maintenance budget where they found the extra money? You may be talking about something else completely.

Alberta is living beyond its means and must reign in spending. The losses cannot continue. As soon no one will buy our debt. It hurts but we have face reality.

Out of curiosity how was it better then? And Kenney won't get us out of debt. He understands debt financing and will it to his advantage.

When we were debt free we weren’t wasting hard earned tax dollars On debt interest. Debt. Is a 4 letter word.

I worked 35 years in the oil industry, and I saw the disappointment, and the uncertainty in the industry when the NDP was elected. The long delay before the royalty review and Notley being anti oil definitely made the oil companies feel insecure about any investment on Alberta.

Most any AB gov't layoffs happening now and in the next while should be blamed on the witch & her proverbial flying monkeys who got us into our present fiscal mess. Of course some can also be blamed on Ottawa as well, if we had more private sector jobs and thriving industry we could afford more gov't staff. But we can't. Sorry this has hit your lad, I don't relish in people losing their jobs, but the gov't has to ride out the same bumpy roads as the private sector.
