Nope the population dropped beneath the capacity they want to maintain. Likely due to the heavy snow fall year up north this year.

Well, you can still go hunt them east of highway 35 any time you want and without a licence.

Yes there's certain parts of Alberta where you do not need a license to hunt them

From what I hear you can only do it in the winter time with snow machines

Used to live in High Level Its true you can hunt them east of High Level or hwy 35 without a licence anytime with no limit. Dont get overly excited though there are very few roads going east and the terrain is brutal for access, very swampy and heavily forested which is why most hunting for them is done in winter when its frozen

I thought this option was removed a couple years ago. Can anybody confirm?
Seems odd it would still be "open" but the draw is now closed

Yep, you can still go. The Ronald lake area was closed to non-natives. I never did figure out how they made a blatantly racist law stick, probably because no one has challenged it in court. But there’s lots of other territory to hunt them. All of it is extremely difficult, in addition to never knowing where or when the buffalo will come out of the park. There’s an outfitter who has a couple of the dry land routes figured out, but in winter they go wherever they want.

Just be aware, that group believes they own ALL the buffalo, and will wreck any equipment they come across even if you aren’t anywhere near Ronald lake. Including shooting at vehicles.

Edit: the reasoning is still the same, keep the herds separate to prevent disease transmission and genetic mixing.

It's simple, carter a plain from Fort Vermilion fly out find them gps them then go hunt them with no protection as wildlife no need to wait 12 hours to then go hunting, and shoot as many wolfes as you can please
