Default Help! We’re infested with Skunks

Good morning everyone. We manage a small property in Wandering River and have recently been overrun with skunks. We’ve been diligent with trash removal and no longer feed the cats outside etc. We were hoping they would move along on their own but it’s only gotten worse. Fish and a wildlife turned us away and the county only offers trap rental. I work away from home and my wife is unable to deal with this on her own. What are our options?!
Thanks everyone

Maybe call an exterminator?
I think they'd handle skunks.

If you’ve got dogs that’s a problem 😝

If not I’d let them be, they’re there eating mice and etc. and as long as you have skunks you’ll never see a wasp in the yard.

What is your theory on wasps and skunks?
When we had skunks, it didn't slow down the wasps at all.

Ground nests or low hangers don’t stand a chance when the skunks are around. Had a huge nest full of bald face wasps this summer in the front yard. Woke up one morning to find it tore apart all over the lawn. Only a few stragglers flying around the bush where it had been built. The only thing they’re good for in my opinion.

Mothballs in spaces under buildings, and a loud radio blasting 24/7 beside the den if you know where it is

As far as trapping you are good to go legally

There is a pretty big risk running 220s in boxes on the ground. High possibility of non target catches. Use eggs for bait if you go this route, cats don’t care about them. No promises on all the other critters though. And skunks will spray/leak if you kill them in a conibear or shoot them.

Best option is a koenders box trap baited with rotten eggs. Cut a hole in the top and secure a plexiglass window to confirm catch. Then once you know you have a skunk, a heavy blanket and one time swimming lesson in the water barrel. Don’t try to gas them with exhaust, new emissions control stuff doesn’t kill.
