Default Dodge Diesel Mechanics_ Help!

Hi
I need some advice on a 2001 2500 5.9l cummins dead pedal problem

I bought my son a 2001 dodge 5.9 litre cummins with 260,000 kms on it

Truck was fine when we drove but not its got dead pedal as he calls it
We've changed the throttle position sensor and the turbo boost sensor. It still does it
Cleaned most of the wire connectors and added die electric grease, Im no diesel mechanic and dont know what else to look at. So if any of you are a dodge or a diesel mechanic who can point me in a good direction Id be greatly appreciated of your help

And its got lots of diesel pressure, so not the pump as truck runs fine otherwise

Thanks

Yup. Get one from Gino's garage. Don't go through Dodge.

He said he’s changed it already! First question, is the CEL on? If so you will have to pull the codes to see what is wrong. I’ve seen where mice have chewed through wiring as well or where a harness has rubbed through and caused issues too. Until you hook it up to a scanner you will be just throwing money at it. Owning a diesel will get expensive you will learn that fast!

Was the new APPS calibrated when you replaced it?

I went through the dead pedal thing with my ‘99 years ago.

Let me guess, if you pump the pedal hard three times it will magically come back?

Can you read the codes?

Apps sensor as suggested but since you already did that check the codes. More than likely it’s the injection pump itself if you have covered the other basis. VP44 pumps have weird ways of failing sometime.

Pull codes from dash or scanner. That will point you in the right direction.

Well when you have trucks still running with 400-500,000 kms and still fetching 10-15000 for them, dont see may fords or chevy's doing that

Again big thanks to Randy!

Randy is a great guy. He helped me out too. His shop is in the west end. Been in business for more than 40 years. If you are looking for a great independent mechanic give them a call.

Do not see many Fords looking for mechanical help at 20 years and 400,000km. Most Fords need mechanical help well before 100,000km.
