Default Interesting Conversation

I recently had a conversation with an Executive at a major oil company in Alberta. He flat out told me they are holding off on some major projects until after the election, pending results. He said that if the NDP are elected those projects will be outright cancelled and he said they will be laying off a lot of workers.

I still remember the lines of taxi's waiting outside the office towers in downtown Calgary for people who were laid off after the last provincial government was in power. It was awful and its about to happen again.

We entertain each other trying to change opinions, it's a losing cause for both of us. Sunday night debating society, usually with pie and coffee.

Election results definitely play a role on what some big companies do.

I know projects in oil&gas were canceled or put on hold with the last federal election results too

Default Get out and vote.

Apathy will surely benefit the NDP.

I cannot stand Danielle Smith. I would love it if she did not get a seat.

However, Notley ( Trudeau and Singh ) must not govern anything. Ever.

People died so we are free to vote. Get out and vote.

People died so we would never be a communist country. Get out and vote to make sure the Liberals and NDP do not get in and we don't have to live in a country.

All people should have to remember is the major policies that the NDP put in place immediately after they got in that were not part of their platform --

Carbon tax (which the Liberals thanked them for in taking a leadership role),

The rapid phase out of coal plants without a plan --- then importing electricity from Montana from coal fired plants,

Their absolute distain for any community, person or business impacted by their policies.

The name calling of people who raised concerns or objected

The list is long

Whether you have a capitalist system, a socialist system, or a communist system, there will always be the rich elite, and the poor, which goes against the very principles of socialism/communism. So a truly socialist/communist system can only exist in theory, and not in reality.

Back in Jr. High, we had a social teacher who was very passionate about teaching the wonders of the communist system that was in place in China and the USSR.

One day I posited what you said - that the Communist Revolutions essentially replaced one set of elites with another. It actually made him pause and agree.

The problem is this: in a socialism, you have a very small number of so called rich people, very small n7mber of a middle class rich and a very large group of peons who fight for food and clothes.
Communism has never existed or took place so there is no data yet(thank God!)
Capitalism usually represented by a small group of very rich, very large group of a middle class rich and a very small group of people who survive day by day on a social assistance….

Default Keeping it Real

I posted earlier about a large company not investing in Alberta should the NDP win. Thats the macro economic side of things.

There's a micro version of this phenomena, I want to purchase a custom rifle. Ive been saving for a long time now. I am ready to make the purchase of what I consider to be a very expensive toy ($6000 to $7000). Ive decided I wont make the purchase until after the election. I dont believe that an NDP government will do anything to protect Albertans firearms rights and I could have the new and expensive rifle confiscated by the wims of a federal government.

What does that do to the economy? How many of you are postponing purchases because of political uncertainty?

Capitalist also tend to curb the urge to throw opponents from tall buildings or line them up over deep trench's unlike, most other parties for not towing the party line.

Be difficult for a minority unless a couple seats go Independent, and Drew Barnes isn't running, AFAIK.

Just wanted to let everyone know the NDP voted to close debate on Bill C-21(Firearms Law) in Ottawa. While they had been supporting debate on the bill to this point, they flipped at the last hour. Might sway some of the gun owners who think the NDP is your friend.

I think they did this now because a new poll came out showing a UCP majority today. Not having to appease Albertans they let their true selves show. That’s my theory at least.
