Calgary and area Golf Courses?
Be coming to calgary mid June for one of my daughters wedding. The new son in law wants to golf instead of a stag.
Ive never golfed Calgary...
Can anyone recommend and nice scenic courses in good shape?
I had thought silvertip or kananaskis.... but not sure yet on time frame for the golfing.... so they might be a bit far to travel from ctown

Cottonwood on the south edge, a corporate track pretty forgiving. Wide fairways along the Bow River with some hills to the west. I'm certainly no golfer but have fun there

If you're willing to drive, Silvertip, Kananaskis or Three Sisters are solid bets. A bit closer to town are Cottonwood (quite nice), River Spirit and Elbow Springs. Weekend booking for larger groups will be a challenge no matter where you go so you'll need to plan far in advance.
Personally I'd avoid Glen Eagles, it's easy to lose a dozen balls in a round.

3 months too late booking a time at kananaskis, they book up instantly in March when the tee sheet opens. Try Mickelson. Worth every penny.

If your lucky to get on, you might try Inglewood Golf Course it's right in Calgary. Some good suggestions given for sure.

Where are you staying in the city? That will help narrow down some choices for you.

highly recommend Canmore Golf and Curling Club. A walkable course in the middle of the valley with breathtaking views and a challenging course. Not as expensive as the other Canmore courses.

100% agree. And the marshalls don't come at you with a cattle prod like they do at the other Canmore/Kananaskis courses.
If you're more into a 'family fun' course, then Brewsters just east of Canmore is a nice place. A little quirky as far as course layout goes, but it's definitely the least pretentious course in the area

^ second vote from Drumheller. If you're up to a few hours drive, CNP is good. Around town, I would vote for Bearspaw (if you get in)

If you do get some time Innisfail and Carstairs are worth the drive. Carstairs mostly for the maintenance factor. Innisfail just because it's fantastic. If Sirocco to the south of Cgy still allows non members its a good test and Gleneagles outside Cochrane is great but God help you if the winds blowing.
Unfortunately the one I've played the most is Carmoney just south of Calgary thanks to my brothers membership. Humbling in one word. I've used many others.

I do enjoy Speargrass. Reasonable price off weekends. 6 par 5's, 6 par 4' and 6 par 3's. Course can be very forgiving as it does have some fairly wide fairways. It does have it's challenging holes. If you have a bad shot on the wide fairways you really had a bad shot. Just when you think your game is going good....... 16-17-and 18 will give you a test. 15 could be a challenge also. Try to book a few days in advance.
Kinda like Strathmore also. Not very scenic but a good course (30 min east) If you have the time Forest Heights (hidden gem) around the Sundre area. It will challenge you. One hour 20 min drive approx.

Lynx ridge is nice, as is bearspaw. Both have nice clubhouses for after the round food and beverage.
