Default Unbarb small hooks

Dear Reader:

i have some size 18 treble hooks that i want to unbarb. The needle nose pliers are way to big..

Does anyone have any advise on what i should do?

A small file, that's what I use for the small ones.

where do you get small files? and you mean like the metal things with groves?

I don't remember where I got my really small file, sorry, but I bet your local hobby shop would have them.

don't you just "Pinch" them down so they can't snag?

get some gold/silversmith tools,
avilibale ( in calgary at Greens lapidary on center st near 16th ane nw. or try some needle files avalibale at many many automotive stores from crappy tire to pevey mart

they are out there

Most nail clippers have a little mini file that swivels out from under the handle. Mine works just fine for that sort of thing.

If you aren't above spending $8 to $10, Any fly shop has plyers designed specifically for crimping the barbs.

I have 2 of them. The $8 one seems to be the best.
