Default Island Lake by the town of Athabasca

Hey folks! In my youth my family spent countless summers at Island lake just north of baptist and west of the town of Athabasca. Ive always heard rumours there was once walleye in the lake, and just read in the fishing alberta publication that there are apparently still walleye in this lake. Every local ive talked to says there are none left but im asking if anyone has heard anything different or actually caught any in the last couple years? Ive always caught small pike and large perch, but ive yet to see any walleye or whitefish for that matter! I spent 12 summers out there and nothing. Gorgeous lake and if there is a chance of hookin into some walleye for some catch and release fun id like to make another trip up!
