Default Reusing unused tags.

Was looking at all my unused green tags I've accumulated over the years and my sticker wall is pretty full.
Planning for next year already..
Anyone ever try to purchase a licence with a previous years invalidated tag?
Wonder if the system would accept or reject it.
I'll try it out next year..

I'm not seeing any real reason why they shouldn't be allowed to be used the following year or later.
I'm gonna try and make some calls to F&W.
Probably get some reason similar to why you need to maintain evidence of sex on a general WT deer.

So I buy next years elk license with the same tag number that I had the previous year. I pay the money.. I have the brand new tag. Or if I get lucky one year it gets folded on the tendon...then guess what..that tag is now done.

Hopefully this helps..

Their number has already been assigned to a license. Unless you picked up a stack of tags and never purchased a license for them. New ones are free for the asking at vendors so im not sure why it would be worth the hassle to reuse and old unused.

If you didn't actually assign the tag to a license, they're good until they decide to change the color.
I've got "blank" tags that I ordered 3 years ago, that I purchased a license for this year.

Yes, if the tag wasn’t used to purchase a license, it can be used to purchase a licence. I got one or two that were rejected for no obvious reason though. If the tag was used to purchase a license, but unused as in no animal was harvested, then it, of course, cannot be used to purchase another license. So depends what was meant by “unused” in the original post.
