Default Reloading Question for 30-06 Semi Auto

Hello All.
Just a quick question for those who have tried to reload for semi auto's? I am going to be reloading for my Remington 742 semi auto 30-06. Can I us a regular sizing die or do I need to purchase the smaller base sizer die? Past experiences would be great as most will say it depends on your gun and you will have to try for yourself. Dont want to buy 2 sets of dies.

Thanks
Curtis

Unhappy

Normal ones work for mine but some are a bit sticky. Next time I am going to use the small base dies as I don't have complete confidence in the regular ones.

Be sure to crimp your bullets and use powders that have the correct pressure curve for a semi.

I don't need to use SB dies on my 223, 7.62x39, 308 or 30-06 semi's. Mic the case head of a fired rnd, might let you know if your chamber is on the larger end. Trying it would be the only way to know for sure. Know anyone with 06 dies you can borrow? Must be millions of them out there

Default Rem 742

Had one quite a few years ago. Would not fully cycle burning IMR 4350 but cycled just fine with IMR 4895, using standard RCBS FL die.

I have used regular dies, with no crimping in a BAR, but I have no experience loading for the 742.

Default 30-06

Thanks for all the input. I found a set of FL 30-06 RCBS dies from a buddy so I will give it a go.
