Default bringing dogs form the states

I'm sorry I know this has been covered but I searched and can't find it.

A buddy wants to come to Alberta from the States and he wants to bring his dogs up with him....what are the legalities involved if any?

thanks

Pretty sure you have to have documentation showing the animal's vaccination records.

current vacinations including rabies shot. Plus a vet health certificate not older than 3 days in order to come in to Canada. Mind you that a vet cert is good for 10 days but has to be within three. silly

Have they changed the rules? When I was crossing regularly they needed only to see a valid rabies certificate. When flying across the airlines wanted a health cert. from a vet and more recently a certificate of acclimitation for adverse weather.

Yeah when we brought our dogs across all they wanted was a valid bill of sale and a valid vaccination report including rabis within the last 3 years. But you might want to call so see if things have changed.

I brought back a dog from Alaska two summers ago. All I was told to provide by our local Customs guys was proof of rabies and a bill of sale - so that GST could be levied. That was what the customs folks at the border post wanted. Since I was adopting the dog as a rescue, the bill of sale burned my butt. I took a dog with me on the trip so that I could make sure they were compatible and all the US border guard asked for was the rabies cert for my Canadian dog.

I visited our local customs office and called the US border post in advance to make sure I had everything they wanted.
