Default A First For Me

Thanks partly to several guys on here who have given suggestions etc. I finally got my first and second fish ever on a fly rod. Ive never had a lesson just asked questions and watched U-Tube stuff.

Just pond Trout but hey im hooked now. I know thats not such a big deal for you pro's but for me to learn fly fishing at 69 years old is a big deal and then to catch something after three weeks of trying well im stoked.

Dont think the old spinning rod will get used much now i can get the fly where i want it mostly anyway.

Sorry for the bragging, just couldnt keep it to myself. Had to tell my peers.

I found when I was first starting to really enjoy flyfishing that I liked to bring both my fly rod and spinning rod because of the learning curve on trying to fly fish.

I can't even remember the last time I brought the spinning rod out now..... it's been several years at least.

Welcome to the world of addiction.

Nothing wrong with catching stocked pond trout. Especially if it's all you got close by. I personally have the hardest time fishing stillwater.

Congrats! And welcome to the sickness.

Now you have to learn to spey cast.
You can stand on shore and punch out 80 ft of line plus leader with only 10 to 15 ft 0f clear area behind you. O yes you can put a small strike indicator on the end of the line also for chronomide fishing.

Thanks all. Man this is addicting stuff. Its like a whole new world in front of me. When i dont have time to get to water to fish, im out in the field with wool tied on the end of my tippet practicing dry casting.

It's all about driving thousands of miles burning hundreds and hundreds of dollars in gas and spending thousands of dollars on flies and other gear.....all to catch a fish that you will release. LOL
Best addiction ever!
