Infrared turkey frier
Wondering if anyone here has used the infrared turkey fryers and what you thought of them? We are cooking thanksgiving dinner and have been borrowing an electric cooker from my brother, but the wife wants to buy our own. Was wondering if the infrared would be worth the extra money? http://www.homehardware.ca/en/rec/in...232?Ntt=turkey

A buddy bought one from Cabelas and says it's better than his oil one. With a few metal sticks and things for hanging stuff he has done ribs and all sorts of things. He totally loves his. Great for camping too as you don't have to lug around 20 liters of oil and can do almost anything in it with some ingenuity for racks and hanging things. He would give his a 5 out of 5 rating.

I also have one they work awesome, Turkey was juicy and the kids could not get enough of the skin. Thing I like is the no oil clean up has a tray on the bottom for the drippings so a person can still make gravy.

I have one. Love it. Can cook a small turkey in 90 minutes and tastes like a rotisserie chicken. Have also cooked chicken, ribs, and lamb.

Got mine from Princess Auto. We love it. You can do a turkey up to about 16 lbs. we did a prime rib roast a couple of weeks ago and everyone went back for third and fourth helpings.
It keeps the meat really moist and tender. I've never used an oil fryer but people who've had meat cooked in mine now want one instead of their oil cooker. I'm going to order the baskets and racks to be able to do more items. Just follow the instructions, also there are lots of recipes on the website. The main thing I found was if it is windy, try to block the wind and add some extra time, especially on chickens and Turkey to ensure proper cooking.
The brand we got was CharBroil Infrared cooker. We also have the infrared barbecue which cooks steaks etc extremely well. Nice and juicy with no flare ups even on ribs. You won't be disappointed

I've eaten some really good turkey from them! I would get one but don't have the room to store a cooking unit I'd only use a couple times a year. My smoker gets the most use besides the grill.

Can you still put stuffing in the bird?

We don’t recommend cooking any turkey (whether in the Big Easy, Oven, or grill) with stuffing inside the cavity. It presents a food poisoning issue and it also sucks the moisture right out of the turkey like a sponge. I would suggest you do the stuffing outside of the turkey and then use the turkey drippings in the drip pan to incorporate back into the stuffing. If you do this, make SURE that you cook the drippings to a safe temperature so you can kill off any bacteria that may be left over from the turkey. Hope this helps!"
