Default Victory Drinks

After great achievements such as getting your animal, or catching a trophy fish do you like to celebrate with a dram of something extra special?

Tonight, in celebration of getting our elk on opening day two years in a row, mine is a tipple of Lagavulin 16 and Ardbeg Uigeadail. I would have liked to toast with Odin, but my bottle hasn't arrived yet

In the past I've enjoyed a cold Innes and Gunn or a nice Okanagan Cabernet Franc.

What's your poison AO?

Congrats on your achievement-

We may be soul brothers. I always carry a silver 4 oz flask in my pack (a special gift from a relative) and currently contains 16 yr old Lagavullin. It has contained many fine whiskies over the years, never anything common. When I caught my 37 lb chinook a few years back, I poured a dram of 25 yr old Laphroaig into the the water....not much mind you! Congrats on your elk, you should add a picture for us. I'll have a dram to honor you (ok, I'm already having a nice touch of Oban!). "Slàinte mhòr agad!"

A nice cup of appleton's has served me well in the past, but I recently discovered a new rum - Flor de Cana. Hoping to hoist a few this season!

Either of those would definitely fetch my approval. If I ever get an Elk, I might go for something a bit more high-end. When I get a deer, it's usually a glass of Ardbeg 10 yr.

Absolutely. We really ought to get together for a drink sometime. Laphroaig 25 sounds devine! The field pics are of my hunting partner. I texted for permission, if he says yes I'll post. We got a nice lookin' cow

Ardbeg 10 is great. The Uigeadail is sublime. I highly recommend it if you get a chance.

Sorry to say, Roper...I like you and all...but I cannot drink pilsner. The only thing worse is a lager.

I don't know if they would kick them or not, but I know they would eat them in the morning like a poptart.

I have tried different spirits over the ages. Southern Comfort, Yukon Jack, Homemade Grappa, Jagermester, Drambuie, Jack Daniels, assorted and sundry Canadian Whiskeys and of course the current favorite , anything with Forty Creek on the label.I like their 'Copper Pot'

I think celebratory drinks are good for a man. When hard work pays off, i think it should be recognized.

I usually start off celebrating "waking up in the morning". Believe me some days that is an accomplishment.

Omega. Lucky Beaver Hat sounds like a great name for a bar ......or a Canadian rock band.

Yup, me too. Except instead of the Montecristo its a lip full of copenhagen...even though by the time all the works done I would be several cups of coffee and a few dips in, the one at the end of a successful day is always the best! Wouldnt mind some of the stuff the other guys are talking about, but the darn gout stopped me from drinking a few years ago and now id just rather have a coffee, lol.

I now regret not making it down to Chateau Louis when you were stuck there! #4 are my preferred size as well.

As for the OPs questions, I usually carry a flask of 14 year old Oban. If I'm successful in the field, I pour a shot on the ground and say a brief "gratitude prayer". That goes for anything from grouse to moose!

An elk that big should have a big old set of antlers on it!

Congrats to your friend. That is 1 heck of a cow elk he got as his first big game animal.

After consuming 1/3 to 1/2 of a bottle of 1.75L whiskey each night for the last 10 years I wonder why in the world society ever made it fashionable for people to celebrate with alcohol? Alcohol doesn't improve the celebration but in fact depresses and takes away from the natural high of the celebration and accomplishment. Haven't had anything to drink (for the most part) in about 10 months now. Just don't find the desire anymore. Hell, I lost 10 years of life to it. Time to live a little where I can actually remember the things I do.

What do I drink to celebrate? Pure air baby...pure air in my lungs with a smile on my face!
