These are what we called Russian hooks, but the ones we used were plain polished steel, brass, or copper with a small red dab of paint where the hook joined the body of the jig. Tipped with a maggot they are still our go to when ice fishing for perch. They also come in a different style with a shorter body. Last time I bought them was at the Caslan general store maybe 5 years ago.

This is the site I was going to direct you to. If you click on the "Click here to see product in action" link you will see the shorter version of the lure. I'm thinking that is the one you want. Not sure which, the long or short, they are selling. Great whitefish lure.

Ya I forgot to mention they are really good for whitefish as well as perch. We have best luck on the short silver ones tipped with a maggot. Whitefish seem to like the longer ones more than perch, but silver seems to work best in most cases.

Tie them on tight so they sit 90 to your line, concave side up... that gives them a nice swimming action when you lightly jig them.

I believe these are the ones supergrit is looking for. The best perch hook every made IMO from what I can find is they are no longer made. The company was bought out and discontinued why I’m not sure. I bought every one I’ve seen and horde away “My Precious” lol.

I have seen similar ones but not with the fins at the top:

The Demon by Custom Jigs and Spins
https://customjigs.com/products/demon-the-original.html

They can be bought at the fishing hole.

Also the McGathy's Slabgrabber can be found at Cabelas:

Hi Jamie... as I said in my last post I last bought them at the Caslan general store, but I have seen them at other similar small town stores and gas stations. It might be worth keeping an eye out as your travelling around the province.

Those Russian hooks were awesome ! Don’t recall any species of fish that didn’t hammer them. I had some 2” silver ones that were great on Lakers,Pike and Walleye.

X2. Ice fishing, Big rainbows gulp the 2 inch russians. Whites and perch love them. They work good if you can hang them sort of horizontally on your line with the nose a little down.

Default Russian Hook

I make modified and improved Russian Hooks for targeting whitefish only. These Russian Hooks were found to be extremely effective for catching whitefish in Gull Lake.

I've always found their strength to be that they sort of glide out to the side on the drop, often the bite comes as the lure slowly swings back underneath the hole. As well when "twiddled" they rock back and forth, not necessarily the only lure that does these things, but one of the great classics for sure.

I spent some of my childhood in Michigan, where apparently these things first appeared in North America, coming over from eastern Europe with the migrants that worked in the sugar beet processing plants, as local lore has it. Apparently for a good many years the Russian hook was a jealously guarded secret, and the locals spent many a day getting outfished and extremely frustrated before they finally figured out what the Russians were using.

Swedish jigs and Pimples were not the same thing. Swedish jigs and pimples are much heavier and don’t swim the same as a Russian Hook.

I’ve got one left and it’s rigged up all the time on a rod. I’ve had to repaint the red spot on it a couple times now it’s caught a lot of fish. If I see a Northern or Eye, on the camera I yard it up like I’m saving lives so I don’t lose this one and I only fish with it using the camera for that reason it’s so precious to me for Perch I don’t want to ever lose this one. Thought about making my own in future. Too bad no good sources for them anymore. I’ve also rigged up a couple variations using Luhr Jensen Kokanee King and Johnson Slimfish by putting the treble on the other end of the spoon and painting a red spot on that end. Have to use a treble for now, never got around to soldering a single hook on them to try that out yet. Always used silver or gold, never really tried the multi coloured ones.

Default Russian Hook

Here is a picture of a bunch of Russian Hooks I made years ago when barbless hooks were required in Alberta. These Hooks are glow in the dark hooks. I have caught all species of fish on these hooks.
