I am heading out to the lake lot on boxing day to prep the auger and go thru the gear as the family and friends will be going for 4 days over new years to chase some perch. We found a honey hole at one of th local lakes up there and can not wait for a good ole' fashion perch fry over the fire pit!!!

That sounds like a pretty good time Lake Side. Enjoy your fish fry.
Wayne if things are slow at CVR we can always pick up and head over to Newell. Nothing written in stone about having to stay there the whole time.

Rob for fishing a place for the first time, I have to say this spot I tried was amazing, next time I get her thru the ice for a pic. Im still shaky after all these hours, Im thinking it may have even tied my big sturgeon for excitement factor!!! Im off all week so if you want to slay monsters let me know, Im always up for it! and now I know where!

Unfortunately, I cannot make this. I start work on boxing day, and only have the 30th off for the rest of the month. thanks for the invite though guys. If anyone is out on the 30th, perhaps I will come drop some lines with you! The next 4 weeks will be hectic. I take possession of the new house soon, so my time is limited until feb.
I do need some help moving though

I will be on the ice on the 30th and you are always welcome to come along, especially for the entertainment factor, theres even bigger fish where Im going to be, might even take your lawn chair this time too!

Looks like I am going to CV on Tuesday, will fish the West side. Then head down to Newell on Thursday, wife has me busy on friday and have to go out later. I also get all of next week off if anyone wants to go out somewhere. Fished Kananakis this morning and caught 3 bulls and lost one.

Well Gringo, Slingshotz and Mrs. Slingshotz, my wife and I all got out today on the Upper K. No fish to speak of. Only got one stick from 58 feet of water. The three dogs had a blast. Tika our yellow lab had an absolute blast with Luna and Jet. Even our little bichon/yorkie got some romping time with the big dogs. Both our dogs reluctantly went outside for the first time since we got home this afternoon. I just wish one of us had of brought a camera. Those dogs were priceless.
Those mountains have never looked so good. The sun glistened off the ice coated peaks. The clouds licked the mountain tops, like a fat kid with a lolly pop. Fast and furious. The wind howled down the valley, making each and everyone of us glad we had our tents along. Our heaters burned plenty of propane. But at times we were out on the lake without gloves or toques.
No fish at all between the 5 of us. The day was a short one in the mountains. The sun started to go behind the mountains at 3:30 so we packed it in. But all and all we had a great day in beautiful K Country.
Just a quick edit. The ice there at the upper K was a foot thick. But when we drilled our first few holes they were like a geyser. Water flooded out and quickly filled the area we had cleaned off to place our tents. We eventually had to drill our holes up on some of the higher mounds of snow. We were about 40 feet from shore at that time. When we went out to deeper water about 150 feet from shore there was not any water coming up from the holes. Weird. Maybe just because of the water dropping and the ice had some extra pressure built up. There was at least 2 inches of water where we had drilled the original holes.

Sounds like a great day minus the fish. I find myself more taking pics then fishing sometimes out there. Simple one of the best views to be had.

Chilly chilly chilly
Ok guys Im just starting a pot of chilly to bring out. I have bowls, plates, forks etc etc. Picked up some dinner rolls and a few bags of chips as well. I am sure we can warm it on Deans stove. If some one wants to pick up a 24 of pop or something we should be good to go. Deam will have some meat and buns so it should be a good feed.

If anyone has an extra bag of smelts I would like to buy it off you, not a bit of bait worth money around here right now, and the pike today pretty much cleaned out anything bigger than my minnows. Guess thats not a bad trade off for 15 pike and some walleyes not all mine though, split them 2 ways

Smelts
The bag I picked up this week was minnow size not the biggies. Should be good enough for tomorrow but maybe I can try Thursday for some big ones and bring them down on Friday.
