I have a "frozenfibre" barrel, its a benchmark liner turned down and wrapped. It doesnt have the same look as most of the barrels since its spool wound. I got Terry and black art rifles true up a rem ti action and chamber/fit the barrel, 260ai throated to run a bit longer oal.
It shoots a bit better than half moa with the lrab or 140vld's. Seems to shoot the same hot or cold, to the touch it feels as though the carbon is warmer than the steel when the barrel is hot.

Jerry at mystic precision in B.C. brings in carbon six barrels, I have one on order but haven't received it yet so no firsthand experience, but that may be a suitable option for a build.
I think he has a link on his site to an interesting buildup, a "remage" which is a rem 700 action with a barrel that has a barrel nut like a savage, dropped into the new magpul 700 stock.

Buddy has a Christensen with a carbon pipe in 300WM. It’s a nice rig. He also has a Proof in 6.5 Creedmore AI on a Stiller that I really like. Very nice barrel.
Jealous of both your rigs shown Kurt. Need the current .280 to sell before I upgrade.

carbon barrel
Just ordered proof research through corlanes. They seem to be able to get them faster than anyone else? Good luck!

I think I'm going to sell the Christensen so if you sell your 280 and you're interested this one is mint. Only has the barrel break in through the pipe so far.

Just received another Fierce Carbon Edge in 28 nosler. Owned 2 others previous (7RM and 6.5x284)
Really like these rifles both shot great. Haven’t taken out new one yet.

Barrels
Benchmark and proof are the preferred carbon barrels for most customs
I’ve been to the proof plant. They are great to chat with.
Hard to beat the value of the fierce rifles
Had and still have a few ct’s
They shoot well
Combine the carbon barrel with a titanium action, you have a solid platform that you can count on for repeatability
I’ve had enough skeletonized light weight rigs to know that in order to be light weight your giving up something
Just my 2 cents

When i was looking into getting a carbon barrel for sheep hunting, I asked the question. What if you fell and chipped the barrel, would it still be safe to shoot. I couldn't get a straight answer, so I stayed away from them.

You'd absolutely nothing to worry about.

I like how for a light weight rig the carbon barrel acts more like a bull barrel. With all my carbon fierce I’ve been able to get 3 on paper relatively quick without any cool down time, and not have that 3rd shot fly away from the first 2 like on a mountain ascent or something lighter. At least that’s been my experience.

look forward to some of the reports on stuff you guys have coming!
i may have to try one out soon, leaning to the proof's, will look up benchmark...oh i see, they are not carbon but i have been seeing the name used lots for builds, got it
thought kreiger/shillen and some others were top barrel name for builds? benchmark seems to be the flavor right now? who's got benchmark barrels and what's the consensus?

You used to be able to get a benchmark done in carbon wrap, the barrel I have is a benchmark that was turned down and wrapped by chris reid (who was with benchmark at one time) chryo'd and then the final polishing was done back at benchmark. It shoots very well, but the style of fiberwrap is not the lightest.

Benchmark
Apparently they don’t have it on the website
But all the moa carbon fiber barrels are benchmarks
So I’m sure a phone call could get you one
Why don’t you get one stinky and let us know how good it is

They work as well as any other barrel, maybe dissipate heat faster. More the question should be what do you want to use it for. You can get metal for cheaper and lighter weight but not as “thick”. No real benifit no real downside either just cost more.

its just a pure 'want' thing, i can see the benefits for extended firing periods to keep the heat in check or cool faster etc. but not a primary focus, accuracy doesn't seem to be an issue with some, cold bore or not, seems the reputable ones shoot well

You can also check out Fierce for carbon barrel only, they are now offering components and selling stocks and their C3 barrels individually.
Fierce wraps their own carbon around match grade McGowen barrels and proprietary method of wrapping that is similar to both Proof and Christensen but slightly different.
Im picking up/paying off my new CT Edge .300WSM in a cpl weeks!🤗🙃
Only gonna have a day or two, time for a quick scope mounting/break-in/sight-in then straight off to the elk hills for 8-10 days(?) to christen it with blood.😜
