Default slow bow luck

Well I decided to head down to the bow today and see if I could hook into another monster brown and actually get a pic of it, unfortunately they only wanted to follow my lures instead of bite them. the only fish I managed to land was a 13" bow....

It did have odd colored markings but up close it looked more to the rainbow coloring than a brown....It went back anyways like pretty much all fish I catch on the bow..

Nothing odd looking about that brown trout to me. Looks like a pretty normal brown trout!

She caught a trout. Better than I did today... and she released it. Not like she did anything wrong. So the title of the thread is appropriate... "slow bow luck".

nice fish, but when you catch a fish and wanna release it you should never drag it on the grass it rubs scales off.

haha, no, just saying, nice brown though, never caught one in Alberta yet, but even if you put a trout on the grass scales do come off, just ssaying, like educating for next time.

well, she may have drug it up on shore or she may not have.. that's the problem around here that starts fights. To many ASSUMPTIONS.

No assumptions here. It's clearly laying on the bank. Regardless of dragging or not, if you are going to release a fish, then the best practice is to keep it in the water for as long as possible and not put it on anything for your picture op. I don't see anything to really argue about there...

However, I've been guilty of it before too, but since being better educated on what that does to fish, I try to leave the fish in the water and avoid bringing it on shore at all costs. We're all learning. Probably no harm done, but in the future, everyone, please keep them off the rocks and schnarb.

Regardless, nice to see that you released it. Please don't let us persnickety farts deter you from posting in the future. When our wives go to sleep, there is no one left to argue with, so we need to do it somewhere else....I guess it's probably better than looking online at porn... speaking of which...

Oh, and if they are just following it in without biting, might want to change up the size of lure, or perhaps presentation. See if that turns the switch on.

good thing you complainers are God, because God doesnt make assumptions he sits up in heavan and see's the truth.
Maybe if you knew where she was fishing, you'd know a safe water release wasnt possible for her to attempt. But then again your God so you can hoover above water thats 4 feet deep and a bank thats jammed full of high shrubs.
Sorry common folk dont meet your standard.........not all of us are self proclaimed BEST of anything

im all for the BEST(hahaha my new favorite word) fish handling techniques possible. Sometimes we must settle for second BEST or third BEST or stop fishing and stay home. Staying home is not the BEST option.
I somewhat agree with the things that people say harm fish. Lets keep in mind how many fish have you caught with Eagle marks deep in a fishes back or a entire hunk missing from it. How about a fish who's tail was bitten off? How about a leaping fish that misses its mark and slams into the rocks heading to spawn? How about a fish blind in 1 eye from a prior release?
Preaching whats BEST is BEST done by God and sorry to say you dont qualify. Calling yourself BEST just tells us about you....it doesnt make it true

Well for starters I think all of the "how to handle fish" posters should relax a little. If you weren't there you don't really know.

Baitfisher if you took my post as something other than it was I apologize. I was just commenting on the actual type of trout. Call it what you will but when I first started catching trout on the Bow I had a challenge with identifying some of them. I thought you may benefit form it. Nobody ever told me what was what and I wish they had.

The next time I get out fishing, I would still like to post pictures. Unfortunately, I just found out my fishing bud can't make it. So I guess I'll just head out myself.

Could someone tell me how to hold a camera in one hand, the fish in the other hand and still be able to focus the camera on the fish without the fish slipping out of the other hand? I find that pictures in the water do not represent the scale or size of the fish at all and are basically useless. If anyone doesn't believe me, I will email a pic and they can try to tell me the size.

I've never caught a brown that small before, had no idea they came in a silvery color like that....looked like a rainbow when I caught it. Oh well....It's not like I whacked it over the head and kept it...
