Battle River and highway 2 bridge just south of edmonton

Can somelne please help me I drove over the battle River bridge on hwy 2 just south of edmonton many times and now here I am trying to find the stupid thing on Google map and I can't find it

Can slmeone show me what they typed in to find it or co ordinates?

Just south of the first ponoka turn off going south

Battle river runs about 5 miles south of Camrose. Find it there and follow it west or east.

What do u guys catch on it mainly pike by ponoka?

Hi Dave i used to catch Pike and suckers,and the odd walleye.
Use Red devils or five of diamonds.there is some big Pike in there.

Is that portion of the river closed until June 1st? Or am I reading the regs wrong? Please correct me if I am wrong

downstream of the Forestburg Reservoir (ATCO Generating Dam) & tributaries
June 1 to Oct. 31 – Walleye limit 3 over 50 cm; Pike limit 3 over 63 cm; Burbot limit 2 (Burbot limit 0 - Feb. 1 to Mar. 31); Goldeye limit 10.
Nov. 1 to May 31 – CLOSED"

771 is approximately 4 miles as the crow flies from Battle Lake.
855 is approximately 3.5 miles upstream from the Forestburg Dam.
The highway 2 bridge falls into the section that is open from may 15 to mar 31.

Interesting question Dave. Many times I have thought about stopping near the bridge on hwy2 where it crosses Battle river. Coming from Edm. (going south) there is no side road near the river. Coming from Cal. (going north) there is a side road just south of river, but it is one way connecting to hwy. and you can't turn on to it. I once pulled over onto shoulder just for a good look at the river last summer, but access is across private land and the river was choked with vegetation. Not ideal situation, and not a good place to park.
I think there must be better spots towards Camrose. Let us know if you find one. Think I'll google earth that river just to get some ideas. Might be a good idea to put a canoe on the river to find some honey holes.
Edit... Quick peek on google earth shows that it is Ponoka, not Camrose that is close to 2 Battle river crossings. Maybe one of those crossings might offer some better fishing. Good luck.
Edit 2... Just studied my back road atlas and it looks like your best bet is to head east on sec hwy 611 then south a bit where a number of roads cross the Battle.

Okay thanks for the clarification Nait! Much appreciated. I grew up fishing the battle in forestburg. Not sure if it's as good of fishing this way but I'll have to give it a shot!

Gave it a try today Ernest, off the bridge on hwy 2 south of the ponoka exit

No luck did see a walleye swim away when approaching the shore

So aftet 2 hours of bush wacking up stream and no luck I headed to the sturgeon river for pike on the fly rod much better luck 3 pike in an hour on green streamers

There are good ones in there, but they are far and few between, i have fished the Battle in the Ponoka area for 28 years, since i was 6..lol. When i was younger it was an amazing fishery, and since elnino, it has never recovered, farm development and cattle damage caused major damage, not to mention the ALberta Hospital sewage treatment going into it..think of all the medication getting in there..brutal. Alot ofchanges have been made lately, and i am hoping for somewhat of a turn around. There are some Nice Pike still, and the Odd Walleye, but this is a fragile/marginal fishery at best.
