Default Your thoughts...May long opener?

Wondering if a person will need the ice fishing arsenal or the boat for may long in the northern regions? I am leaning towards the Auger!

Ice may still be around the May long this year. Thinking that we are gonna have a colder than normal summer this year.

I'm a little concerned this year... I have a trip booked in at Winefred lake lodge for May long... There still is a month to go, it should be good by then. Fingers crossed!!

Pretty sure we have no chance of open water in southern Saskatchewan. I might have some room to scoot around the east end of our local dam since they had some aeration going this winter.

I can't remember there ever being ice on Gull or Sylvan on the May long , but I'm old ! Memory is poor . I do recall the water being crazy cold & the wet heavy snow fall that generally happens .

I have faith , there will not be ice for may long weekend but that waters going to be mighty cold . With the weather shaping up to 10 or better and temps not going below 0 and wind will make quick work of that ice . Was out the other day for a little stroll lots lots of melting to do but a lot of rotten ice .

It will be close but lakes around the Edmonton area should be ice free by May Long. Lakes further north might need another week after that.
