try jigging a storm wildeye in their faces if they only follow, or even if you are using a spoon, let it flutter to the bottom and just leave it there, worked for me last year, they would follow a spoon in and only hit the wildeye, or the spoon if I let it lay on the bottom, they stared at it until it drove them nuts then they would hit it.

Yah WC....I think they were just full or lazy. I used my "primo" fly and couldn't get a hit, I also bounced a jig with a fresh minnow on it right on his face.....no luck.

In my old age I lost patience lol, and then I was back to helping my little guy catch his walleye.

FH7....why did you remove the pic of your pike laying on the dock? It was the only pic that gave a true reference to its size....

No worries man...new readers would have no idea what I was talking about in my posts about it.

Great fish! I am a bit jealous I wasn't able to get him to bite yesterday when he was 5 feet away from me......I can admit you were the better man and you won this one

thurston is a lake in north western alberta next to bistchoe(tapawingo lodge). mckenzie river runs out of great slave lake in the n.w.t and dumps into the arctic ocean. and yes it is majestic! the river is over a mile and a half at its narrowest point! where the ferry is(thats why the ferry is there..... narrowest point.) awsome fishing for huge pike. the natives actually sight hunt them in the shallows with guns! good for eyes too, and coneys(inconnu?). youd love it.

is it any good from shore for pike?
the inconu are too hard of a fish for me to catch anyway.only 1 on a black and white mister twister combo. it was about a 4lb fish but crazy fighters! its like a kamloopers rainbow on sterriods.(but more powerful).
