Me and my girl got an american bulldog as a pup a year and a half ago from an outfit in Milk River. I was never really a bulldog guy (read: not at all), but she sure has glued herself into my affections. She's a real doll and I couldn't be happier with her. She's really gentle and affectionate, she plays really well with my 4 year old niece, who just loves to have Chloe push her around with her fat head and get her big mug in her face. Made a convert out of me! This is just a shameless plug for anyone thinking about getting an American Bulldog.
Here is Chloe as a pup:

The girlfriend would sure like to take you up on another pup if she had her way!

Welcome aboard! Great looking dogs! I have an American as well but he's not a purebred. They sure are a wonderful breed and I can't wait to get another. I've tried getting Gus into hunting for sheds but so far his talents lie in weight pulling, sleeping and drooling LOL. Anyway, thanks for posting!

Nice!. Yes the breed is amazing with children and family. My kids are 7,4, and a baby cooking right now and although fierce loyal hunters they make an excellent family pet. Much more intelligent than many breeds and much larger than pitbull terriers they are often mistaken for. Also very rare to find registered and with pedigree working lines. They are the top breed chosen by hoggers over and above even dogo argentinos.

If anyone.is interested I am expecting a batch of 9-14 pups in May. Asking 1500 for registered females and 1200 for registered males. The picks are preselling fast. I have three guaranteed picks left of the 6 I have chosen to presell. 50% down secures a spot in line. The demand I am getting both in Alberta and the US is pretty much ensuring I need to invest in two more selective pedigree females from the US.

I'm a fan of the bully breeds myself but American Bulldogs are a little small for my liking. Mastiffs on the other hand, well...

Oh never meant to do that. Pups don't arrive till May. Was more or less just looking to meet some fellow like minded hunters. Especially Hog hunters. My hunting to date has been Moose, bear, wolves, deer, elk, cougar, geese ducks and grouse. Looking to expand on that as I hear hog hunting is insanely fun and I breed the correct breed for.it. I'm still fairly green to Alberta but liking it so far. I'm a welder so never a work shortage. Everyone I meet mostly is friendly and like I've said so far I am happy. I do have to get used to catching pike over salmon but I can always go do that every August. It does seem like the best way to get familiar with hunting here is to get to know some folks.

LOL! Well Bulldogs you already learned one of the most important things about this forum, be very careful what you post. There are internet hero's everywhere here just waiting to jump down your throat over the littlest things. Don't let them get to you though. There are some great people here with an incredible amount of knowledge about hunting and fishing.

If you're thick skinned you'll get along in Alberta just fine. Got any field pictures from that hunting you've done?

Are you selling these dogs as a "Running Catch Dog" type hog dog?
I've never known Bull Dog's to have much of a trailing instinct. A very large percentage of pit/terrier type dogs will "catch" hogs out of bay up very naturally, "working bloodlines" or not, but they first have to be "bayed". Post up some pics of them on game if you have a chance, love too see dogs working. Those are some nice lookin dogs and I bet they make great pets.

Oh these are working lines. I'll dig up some more for you. Most of their relatives are actively hogging in the US
My dogs come from very strong pedigree lines in the US.
The dam is Fediucks Lilly
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/dog.html?id=1922187
The sire is Gunslingers Gunner
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/dog.html?id=1262194
PS you're correct on running catch. The widest used breeds in the states for hogging are AB, Dogo Argentinos, and Cur.
I'm probably one of the only people in Western Canada breeding a pedigree line. Plenty of knock offs around though. Much of the interest in my pups is coming.from the southern US and some from Alberta

Welcome, but I'm not buying the selling line. Never saw a thread before with tags on it, let alone five. Boar, dog, hunting, pig and puppies.

Anyway. I live in Red Deer but as a welder seem to travel alot. Have seen some great scenery.in AB so far. I do have a question though. Besides Sylvan what are some.good lakes with decent size fish one could drop a 17 foot welded aluminum with 75 Hp Honda in?
