Just wondering if a moose is harvested in a zone that is mandatory cwd submission for deer. Does this apply to moose at all? Can moose even carry the CWD disease?
It's not mandatory to turn in a moose head, but you can. As Hunter4ever said, they can be infected but so far it's a rare occurrence. Of course, if they are not testing moose, then they don't really know...?
Yes it can have CWD, and yes they will test it if you submit it. I would suggest that we should be having them tested, both from a health perspective and a management perspective.

Totally agree with you. My son shot a moose last week and he submitted him for testing. Better to know in advance if CWD is beginning to threaten our moose population rather than after it becomes an established and serious concern.

I believe that they also do random testing on road kills etc
They do. A local found a recently dead moose that was hit by a semi and called in to fish and wild life for a found dead permit for food for his rottys. They came out, took the head for testing, and he was free to harvest the animal for dog food. Lucky pups had some good eating.
