Auger problem.
I have a Jiffy White lightining. It usually worked good. But today for some reason the auger stoppped turning when it was alomost throught the ice. I notinced that I left it on half choke, would that have caused it to do that?

When that happens usually you just need to back off a bit, even pull up slightly.the choke being on even slightly may have been bogging it down a bit. Happens to mine if I don't let it warm up for a minute or so.

Ive got a jiffy and noticed that it can bog down if I don't let it warm up. Give it a minute or so to run in idle before you burn holes.

Get rid of it and buy an eskimo.

Could be one of several things - old age, bad memory, etc.
After it warms up for a minute or so, take the choke off.

the ice is getting harder this time of year.... my eskimo z71 aint chewin like it used to..... and its right new... and still a dream
but watch for the double clutch slippage... new augers trannys need a break in period... if the motor runs and the blade doesnt spin. just turn it off.. and restart.... dont bag it. warm it up
says it in the books that clutch slip may happen in first 2 hours of breakin...
Wait you bought a jiffy... . they dont come with manuals?

Try new blades - you will be surprised. I thought I bought a bad set for replacement blades (really rough factory edge) but my z71 is back to chewing right through. I guess 100's of holes through dirty prairie ice took its toll on the old blades

How many holes did you dig and have this problem with?
Sometimes it helps to play around with it a little...dig a couple more holes, adjust the choke (you shouldn't need it on once it's warmed up) and see what happens...y'know...troubleshoot.
Typically it'll get a little stuck when you're breaking through the bottom of the ice. Lift up the auger just a bit (so it's not biting in) and then lower it again while giving it some gas and it should chew through.

There are two scews on the side of the Carb.
The one on the right is the high speed setting.
It determines the power ratio / Fuel when the unit
is under load.
Once you get it set up properly the unit will run fine.
One word of caution. Anything works great in the garage !!
the proper way to set these AV520 Tech. motors is under load
on the ice ... drilling.
Here it is in a nut shell.
Gently turn it in so it is just closed all the way .
turn it back out 3/4 to 5/8 of a turn.
this is your baseline/ starting point. use 1/8 turns either
way to fine tune.
If your having problems after this ... send me a PM and we
can talk about it.
I have a few Carb kits left for the Tech. carbs and one pager instructions
on how to set'm up. .... for Forum Members .
