Default Aqua Vu 715c

My wife got me a camera for Christmas.

Charged up the battery and turned it on to find the camera with an odd colour.

Not sure if it's an issue or a setting since I have no experience.

Pic is obviously a photo of the screen but you can see the odd colouration of the screen.

Thoughts?

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!

Play around with the settings. Might help(I dont have one). Brightness, contrast. Or maybe UV lights.

I have that camera, bought last year, and that does look odd. Is there any kind of protective packaging film over the lens or the screen?

Just playing with a friends 715C he just got for xmas also. The picture definitely does not look like that. It looks crystal clear with sharp colors.

I have a similar mode. Like a previous poster said, check for any type of film or plastic on the lens. Also test it outside as these don't do as well with artificial light.

Yes I took all of the lens covers off.

I saw the cameras working at cabelas I would think that in my living rooms should be somewhere between showroom and 30 feet of water they show on youtube.

All settings are at 50 and there is not a clear image or a true colour. It seems to have a pink hue around everything as if it is in a negative arc setting or something the manual is less than helpful.

I was talking to a few friends today. Lucky buggers got the 715C for xmas. 1 out of the 3 has the same problem yours does. Must be manufacturing issue with the camera portion.

That seems like pretty low quality control

Buy a Marcum instead and see what quality control is really about. I have had my 715 going on 4th season and not a blip. You may have the Friday afternoon special. Take it back and get another.

To the guys that mentioned they have the 715c. What’s the clarity like? Does it have to be ideal conditions, what’s the night time picture like? Thinking about one. On a budget and the aqua-vus seem to be the only one under $350 this week.

I've used it in 20+ FOW at night and can still see about 4-6 feet horizontally in less than clear water (40 Mile) with the IR mode. When I turn on the lights, it's like driving in a snowstorm with the high beams, but in IR mode it's still useful. Sure it's not the best, but I agree for the price, I'm pretty happy with it.

I’m praying to the gods that this is a decent camera. After reading a lot of reviews, I placed my order on the Cabelas’s website tonight.

I like mine. Lottomax never came in so I had to make a purchase on a lesser model than what I wanted. I drill two holes - one in each corner of my 3-man Canadian tire special tent (Woods). Camera goes down one, and I fish In the other with my flasher and camera display next to it. So that's about 5' away. i can see 4 or 5 feet past my hook. I don't have the remote control panner. I have the manual one with the rubber stopper you turn with your hand. It all works for me. I can see species, size, etc... tells me how the fish react to my presentation. So... not the fanciest and highest quality unit out there but it works for me!

Impressive how many fish want to come look right at the camera lens. Walleye and jacks seem to love staring at it...

For those of you buying off of Cabelas, there is a Boxing week sale on the Aqua-Vu MoPod at half price if you buy the camera. You are going to want the tripod anyway, so save the $40 and get it on the deal.

Thanks everyone. I picked one up today. I’m pretty impressed playing with it at home in the sink lol. I think it’ll do just fine

I dont know about the model you have but the one I had a few years back had written in the instruction manual “do not turn camera on unless immersed in water or damage may result”. Buddy of mine had the same unit, got it as a xmas present, 5 minutes into playing around with it out of water in the house it died. Killed the camera.

I have never heard that about a camera either. Have run both Aqua view and marcums out of water with no problems. Running sonar out of water is not good though.

He probably doesn't have a 715. He just said Aqua view. They have other series that have longer cables.
